Almost Weekend

And I couldn't be happier!
It's been crazy at work for a few weeks now and I really need some time-off!

That's why I'm going to visit my dear friends in Timisoara and I know I'm going to have a great time. I always do when we go see them! Maybe I'll even have some pictures to show you when I come back (fingers crossed)

ok, away I go...back to work for now :))

Golden-Flea Market

Last Sunday I went with my parents to this huge flea market that takes place at the end of every week in Arad. We all call it 'Obor', but my parents and grandparents have a different name for it...but, as you might notice, I can't remember it.

Why did I go with my parents? Well...my dear friends can't get up that early, especially if it's the weekend! And I really wanted to get out of the house.
How was it?
Fantastic!
There are just so many things there! Useless and useful, it doesn't really matter! I want them all! I know, I have a problem...maybe when I'll be older I'll turn out to be a closet hoarder (really hope not). What did I buy? Well...I got 2 summer dresses and a shirt, a ashtray shaped like a fish and the lower part of an old sewing machine, that I am planing to turn into a table at one point...
I guess I got a lot. Also, my mom got some plates and funky looking glasses. Pretty cool!

It was a great-fun morning! Also, if you take into consideration I only spent the equivalent of 30 euros! :))
Now I have your attention!!!

So, why not give your local flea market a try? You don't know what treasures you might find!

Getting Old...

I'm pretty sure all you youngsters out there will one day say 'Uh...I must be getting old!'.
Yep...I didn't thought that moment will come as soon as it did, but here I am, almost 28 and thinking a lot about it all!
I must be getting old...
Really now, I don't know what's with all the drama regarding this subject. Everybody is, life goes on, until it doesn't anymore. And that sucks, but maybe it doesn't. Who knows what's out there waiting for us?!

Anyways, I was visiting my grandmother the other day (she is 87 and still kicking and staying on my case). She started to tell me about her mother and how she lived in Hungary, about her own youth in Bucharest and so many other things. Not important to you, but very interesting to me. It was a lovely Spring afternoon and I can't wait to visit her again.

All this got me thinking. What does aging mean to me? Well...it's about the stories! It's about having fun and being proud of what you've done! Being proud of your friends, of your family, your house, your job. Until now, I know I am!

*and yes...I found 3 gray hairs! I am getting old and I'm proud!

the Marimekko World of Colors

Nothing makes me happier then a good splash of color!

It's just like a drug for me and sincerely now...I take overdoses almost everyday! And there's nothing wrong with that + the Marimekko brand would more then agree on that statement!

On this occasion (me admitting my addictions) meet: Marimekko!!!
Ta-da-daaa-dam!
Their world is simply amazing! I want to move there and have a family, own 2 flamingos and ride bicycles on a velvet sky! The thing that I love the most is the incredible equilibrium the have with colors. And that's a very hard thing to do when you're playing with more the 3 colors (for some, even 2 is too much). Think about it. They have strong colors, all put together and on top of that, they mix different prints.
Marimekko team, I take my hat off to you. You are great, your work is fantastic and I absolutely love the world you created!
In 1962 Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, defined Marimekko as "a cultural phenomenon guiding the quality of living". She built a utopia called Marikylä ("Marimekko Village"), whose aim was no less than to house the staffs and to function as a laboratory for product design and to develop new ways of life. This year Marimekko will bring to life the Marimekko Village of today.
To find out more about this Finnish brand, go to the Marimekko site. There, you'll see the team and their work + get to know more about them.

Sitting Up Straight!

Hello April!
Hello April readers! :D

As I promised last week, I'm going to tell (and show) you how it was at ChatBox. First of all: I love it! Yes, Yes, I have faith in the young! They will change our world and they will take care of me when I'm old! What?! Isn't that what every elderly person dreams?! :))

I was the first one to talk. Nervous as usual...not sitting up (as usual).
Now, I'm going to give you a moment to look at the picture below and remember! This is a "how NOT to" sit:
Still laughing?
Please stop. Uh...tomorrow I'll have an entire class visiting me and I must remember to have a better posture!
Anyways, ChatBox. I talked about myself, about what I studied, where I worked, why am I doing what I'm doing and more 'personal' subjects. That being said, we began to chat about trends and everything they imply. Ohhh...I could go for hours!

And so, after only 25min it was all over.
I just hope they had as much of a good time as I did...
My friends Rada and Ioana also came to back me up!
hmmm...if they are my friends...why don't they tell me to sit UP straight?!?!?!?!...yes...I am obsessed

on Instagram

Well, being the weekend and with nothing to do (by the way 'Happy Holidays' to all of you out there celebrating Easter) I thought I should activate the stoker mode in all of you :))

What else to do on a rainy day?!
Right?
What better way to spend it, then watching what all your friends did last night, where did they go, how drunk did the get and even if they kissed anybody. Uh...admit it! You want to know (even more if you are a girl...)!!!

So, here you can find me: ArinaVarga on Instagram aka. Proud Owner of theFword.
This is my life.
You'll see it's actually pretty normal (or so I like to think). Lost of photos with friends, with my work, mu loved ones and all sorts of quirky things I come across.
Like this blog, it's not necessarily about something.
It's just me and what I see!

Now, be sure to respond so I can stoke you too!
Yes, yes...the internet is a wonderful thing :))) I joke, I joke! But really know, I would love to know more about you!
kisses!

J'amais, by Rada Ureche

By now, those of you that fallow my activity, know about my collaboration with Rada Ureche, the designer behind the jewellery brand J'amais. We've worked together on 2 collection (Missy Messy Roots and Read Between the Lines) and now we are preparing the third one!

I can only say 2 things about all this: I love working with her and I love her work. And I think that summons it all up. Don't you agree? Below you can see some of her work, but for more, be sure to check out the J'amais site. Believe me, you're going to fall in love with loads of stuff!
My favorite pieces? A necklace, the shoulder chain (looove it! Such a bad-ass piece!) + a few pairs of earring and much much more! I'm an addict when it comes to her work :)))

But I should stop here and let you see for yourself. As a final note: the prices are more the flattering! ;)

Detroit Lost Dreams

Today I wanted to talk about something else...but I came across some pictures with abandoned places and I just couldn't resist showing them to you.

I admit. I have an obsession with places like this.
Abandon places.
Urban abandon places!

And when talking about this subject, there's no better example then Detroit. Well...I want to visit Detroit. To see all the beauty, to listen to the silence of places once filled with noise and activity. Places that even long after being populated, still tell a beautiful story.
As the industrial revolution came to a close and race riots crippled a once bustling city, many buildings throughout Detroit fell into disrepair and eventual abandonment.
Pretty sad. And believe me when I tell you, I just can't imagine why would anyone abandon such beautiful places. Well...I'm not stupid, I understand why...but who knows, maybe in the years to come, that area of Detroit will be popular once again!
Hope...as I said it so many times...HOPE is the only thing that remains.
When lost...there's simply nothing left.

Fashion Quotes - Karl Lagerfeld

"Guilty feelings about clothes are totally unnecessary. A lot of people earn their living by making clothes, so you should never feel bad."
— Karl Lagerfeld

"I want everyone to wear what they want and mix it in their own way. That, to me, is what is modern."
— Karl Lagerfeld

"We need houses as we need clothes, architecture stimulates fashion. It’s like hunger and thirst — you need them both."
— Karl Lagerfeld

"Never use the word “cheap”. Today everybody can look chic in inexpensive clothes (the rich buy them too). There is good clothing design on every level today. You can be the chicest thing in the world in a T-shirt and jeans — it’s up to you."
— Karl Lagerfeld

Read Between the Lines

As it is in life...

Not all is black or white.
Not everything is made from perfect lines.

There is perfection in intended imperfections. And to see this beauty, one must learn to read between the lines, to see things beyond the simple shapes, to learn that there's more then what the eye can gather!
