Über Tropikal Airlines

I don't like talking about collections. I just have a few designers that I'll love no matter what and I show their collection when the season begins. Not one season before...I just don't see the point.

Here we have the infamous Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (that I'm crazy about...yes, yes, yes!). Featured is the ss2011 collection, full of African inspiration.

Now, as far as I can see, this is actually a pretty calm and serious collection. I mean, he usually goes crazy-crazy! But this time, things look more down to earth (not that I'm complaining or anything).
Love the Africa-safari inspiration. With the Kente inspired prints, red beads and the savanna-animal details! Also, Le Petit Prince is such a sweet reminder of traveling and innocence...

-the first woman to travel into space!

I posted this today, because on this date we celebrate 50 years since the first human spaceflight took off into space! It wasn't a woman, but Russian pilot and cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.

We, at theFword, decided to celebrate this day with an image of Valentina. Because for us, she is the fashion-image of space traveling!

Taste of Memories

You know how sometimes, a certain taste reminds you of a certain period in your life? Or of a certain person, feeling...just a memory! Well, this happened to me today and I'm using this post (with the photos and all) to talk about it! :)

A while back I lost my sens of smell (they say it won't be permanent and so on). After that, as a side effect, I lost my taste. Life sucked at first. I started using wayyy to much perfume, tasted everything like crazy...just pure panic. Then I got used to it and learned to adjust to this new way of life:
-I use the same perfumes I used to
-I ask my friends how many "puffs" of perfume I need to smell delicious
-I eat what I used to love
-I don't give my opinion when it comes to talking about new recipe a friend tried...

That's the story. So life got back to normal, until today. I went to Timisoara (feeling extra-sick, dreaming about staying in bed, watching bad movies and drinking loads of hot tea) in order to buy some fabric. *note to self: next time, you must visit someone special that you haven;t seen in a while! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!*
After finishing my errands, I visited my lovely Redhead and her fluffy cat. Had some of her great coffee and I was on my way. But one more stop was a must (I really don't know why...). I stopped by a bakery, a very old and popular one: Trandafirul (the Rose) and bought a Cherry Chocolate Cake.

It tasted the same as it did 3 year ago...the last time I had it! The last time we had it! It tasted like pure LOVE, like I'm Sorry...like I will always be here for you!
I will always love this desert! Cerise Chocolat!

Meet Brooke Shaden!

Brooke Shaden is a young photographer that does things a little different. Not only as far as the image itself goes, but also with the way the image is presented: a square shape, with extra-texture included.

Brooke has been said to encapsulate a new way of creating imagery for our time and has "...dramatically restated a new photographic feminist agenda for the 21st century."

Broken spirits, heads in the sky, or simply just floating trough life. Different feelings, strongly represented in her photos! Brooke Shaden shoots the souls!

Images the perfectly reflect the way I'm feeling right now. Overwhelmed with work, with decisions for the future...with life in general.
I really have no reason to be like this, because I know that all problems have a solution...but (as always, there is a but) I just can't shake this feeling. It's just been hunting me for a while now and it just won't go away! One day!!!From: Brooke Shaden

Windy, with puffy clouds, bright blue sky, loud music all over town...and somehow, I'm sure all of you born in Arad and living somewhere else, all of you are really missing this place (I should know, this is all we talk about when we meet)!

That's why today I did a little soul searching. After spending most of the past few months in Arad, I again have the opportunity to live/work somewhere else. In Bucharest (the capital city of Romania), or in another country...not sure what to do. Now, I still don't have an answer, but I have these photos to compensate for :))

And it doesn't matter. I'm doing the "slow living" thing right now. So whenever I'll find the answer, it will be the perfect time! 'till the, Arad kids! We'll be all together soon!

Tonight is going to be perfect!

Because I'll have 2 of my best friends with me and we are ready to take over the town! Fun, music, high heels, colorful drinks, hands clapping, laughter, kisses and...all the things nice!

By now, even if you are form Romania, even if you are from anywhere else, your surely know about the Absolutely Fabulous Fashion&Vintage Fair! It's great!
Unfortunately, at this edition I won't be able to make it. Some health problems are keeping me from doing heavy-traveling these days...even so! I'm showing my support on-line! :)

Girls, this Absolutely Fabulous Fashion&Vintage Fair will be boho fabulous! Be there! I'm sure you'll have a fab time! ;)

Gowns as Paintings...

Yesterday I went to a cafe that had gowns (and other pieces of wardrobe) on their walls. They were all fixed there with silvery-paint, that gave it a great texture. But still, something just didn't feel right (maybe because of all the other details there).

As soon as I got home, I started researching on the subject (yes, in was 2am, but I get obsessed with things like this...). And I was oh-so-happy to find this project!

The exhibition Vova Vorotniov and Ksenia Schnaider presented last week at Kiev Fashion Days marked an unusual collaboration between the artist and fashion designer.
The series of prints features bright collages comprised of X’U clothes and everyday objects. Vorotniov has a graffiti background; for this series, the artist used clothes from Schnaider’s X’U collection instead of paint to create abstract compositions.
Ksenia Schnaider of X’U clothing works intensively with the Ukrainian art scene, and this project is another step towards the exciting fusion of art and fashion.

A Weekend at the Ballet

Yeah...like that's going to happen!:))

Even so, one can keep on dreaming! Right? Especially when it comes to the works of Jan Masny! Today: the Ballet! Until the light turns to darkness, think white stockings, tulle, soft fabrics and an opened back! Long necks, skinny legs, pure elegance!
