Adelina Does Special Stuff ...for Special People

Adelina is a fashion designer from Timisoara, who's work is pretty cartonny. I love the fact that her designs make the models seem out of this world, they completely transform a person.

And even if they are a bit childish, Adelina manage to give them a little charm. Dressed in them, every girl can be a little lady. Remember how it was when you were small and used to try your mother's clothes? They didn't really fit you, they weren't really made to be worn like you used to...but still, you looked gorgeous in them. Magic comes from mistakes (intended or not).

This is just another example of hocus-pocus!

The Magical World of Fashion Illustration

Seen trough Tinis Sofia's eyes:Her work is simply gorgeous, her lines are perfect, but the thing I love most about her works is the fact that each illustration tels a story. You can see that each figure is a character, all this because of the details (sometimes very small, but very important).
Good job Elena, I've been loving your work ever since I've seen it in the first year at the University! Keep doing it!

It's All About You!

These day in all the fashion magazines and on all the fashion TV shows all you can hear about are the trends. People just can't get enough of them, because we truly are the consumer generation.

Trends are suppose to guide you when choosing something, not dictating it! That's all in theory, because all we seem to be doing is copying different looks we see, hear that they are the "it" thing and maybe even like (truly like, not just think we do). From this, to a uniform, it's only a step. You don't believe me? Just take a look around and you'll see: the mall uniform, the artist-type uniform and the club uniform (and I won't even mention the bank-workers...).

This is not normal, we are all losing our individuality! When was the last time you bought something just because you liked it and you know it was all about you, not just because it was the latest trend? Don't get me wrong, I love trends, I go crazy about them, but I always tray to have them with a twist.

In Romania, we have a saying: The coat makes the man. Meaning that you can now more about a person from what they are wearing. But it also works in revers...or it should.
A few days ago I was out looking at what's new in stores (by the way...nothing!). So I see this girl, trying and later buying a gorgeous dress, that looked fantastic on her. Great? There was only a problem: you couldn't see her anymore because the dress was taking all the attention, even if her body was helping a lot. So, in these case, the dress really made the girl, the dress became #1 and made it all!

So why not take a week, maybe even a moth, off from fashion media and try discovering yourself. Find out what looks good on you as an individual, not as a character in a fashion show. You have your own story that need to be shared!

And please!!! STOP WITH THE LOOK-ALIKES!!!

Paint It Black 1.

Party Dress -
Paint It Black Collection:

This one-shoulder dress is sure to be a hit among your friends (even if they are not all painters). Keeping with the black-trend, the print of this dress is a sort of mock: if you don't have black clothes, paint them!
The simple cut compliment the body's shapes and also manages to keep the accent on the print (a simple, but interesting one). The fabric is cotton (tough one for the black fabric and a lighter one for the fuchsia one) combined with spandex.

Color: Black with fuchsia (or other color on request)
Size: 36/s (on request, other sizes)
Price: 150 RON (+transport)

*when ordering other sizes, or colors, the price remains the same!

Who Copied Who?!

Well...I don't know what to say. There are 3 possible explanations for what has happened:

1. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has a great team of trend-hunters and that's why he's got in his collection every cool thing possible for this spring.
2. Other designers are jealous of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, so they decided to copy him and by doing that take over the world.
3. He, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is the guilty one, because he got too inspired from other designers collections (this I find impossible since they all had their shows almost at the same time...except one!! You'll see!).

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac(Spring2009) vs. Sonia Rykiel(Spring2009):Vivienne Tam(Fall2008!!!) vs. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac(Spring2009):Jean-Charles de Castelbajac(Spring2009) vs. Sonia Rykiel(Spring2009) :Or...as a stretch: all designers are connected to a higher-stronger-fashion-force that guides their creativity. Yep...this must be it.

Chemical Fashion War

With war taking place just as you are reading this post, you'll find it useful to know that now you have an urban protection right next to your skin. This just in case (hopeful you won't need to really use it).
Dutch designer Tim Smit created this urban security suit, having that exact problem on his mind. Or, as he said: created to make sure you continue to look stylish even in case of a chemical attack.
Yanko Design described the piece: Made of stylish neoprene and strategically lined with body molded kevlar, this runway show stopper will be THE must have accessory for your next war, skirmish, struggle, conflict, combat zone or civil strife you find yourself in or starting, Aeon Flux eat your heart out.Now I don't know about you, but me...yes, I want to look cool even as hell rises above my head! :))
By the way, just to point out how history (and political acts) influences fashion: I'll bet soon we'll see camouflage again, just wait and see! It was the same thing with Obama...one day you don't know anything about him, the next he's face is on every dress! :)
