...and if that is not enough, I have the baddest cold ever!!! ;((( Uh, believe me, I just wanna crawl in bed and sleep for days. But that's not possible in the near future!
Because this weekend I'll have a fashion show with bridal dresses.

This is the first time I make a collection made all out of wedding dresses. Don't get me wrong, it's not the first time I make wedding dresses...but I find it really hard to make a dress without imagining the girl that will wear it. Or how the wedding is going to be...

We did shots of 'Party Education'!

Yeah! One after another and another. The camera went snap! snap!, the model moved and I just kept the dresses rolling! I just can't wait to see the end result.

We did the shooting at the Atelier, because of the weather and the time pressure. All the collection will be sent tomorrow at We Love Couture, were you will be able to buy it (pretty soon).

I, for one, had a great time! We make a great team...although we lough non-stop. But that's a plus, isn't it?! Fashion is Supposed to be FUN! So, until I get the images, enjoy a few shots I managed to take!

My Creepy Staircase

The title says it all.
Really now!...

It is just too sad. My beautiful, light and bright and happy Atelier is in one of Arad's more popular buildings...that is just being left to decay! Nothing is being taking care of. There is no light and people expect persons like me to do all the cleaning (and we do what we can...)

Creepy at night!!! Just like in a good horror, every time I return here during the night, my fist action is to turn on my little flashlight. Click! And then I go up the stair being able to see only what the small light allows me to! Nothing much, but even that is enough!

You can't imagine the horrible things that run trough my head...or maybe you like horror movies as much as I do and then you probably can! :)) But, no matter what, I love this building! :)

Imagine a jacket.
Not a special one. A simple one. It keeps you warm, makes you look a little cool...does what an ordinary jack does...AND MORE!

What if this jacket could communicate your felling to others? What if this jacket became part of you (knowing how you feel and what you want to do)? This is the project of canadian industrial designer, Lorea Sinclaire. A jacket that does all that!!!

About it:

The wearable device uses symbolic language to communicate a need or receive a notification. For example different touch gestures imply different meanings. Doing up a button will send out passive signals of your location. stroking the discrete lining of the hem will send out a ‘friend call’. A combination of two hands swiping the outer arms implies you need serious help.
This user interaction utilizes embroidered conductive thread as touch sensors, and an integrated GPS module to send out location.
The user receives feedback whenever someone nearby signals. a gentle vs. a strong pulse of vibration will denote the volume of presence of friends nearby.

Pretty cool, right?
Now, sorry for just copy-pasting the text. But I'm not much as far as technology goes and why would I make a better description then the designer of the project?! :)
Even so, I can admit liking it a lot...but I'm not sure how much good can it do. Aren't we getting to exposed already?! We live our lives in the open and I'm afraid this sort of this is just too much for me. Maybe it was high-time to draw the line!

But I do like it! :P

Black Cat on Friday 13th

Before I start getting ironic and so on, believe me when I tell you I am a superstitious person. Yes...I'm into all that mambo-jumbo, but at the same time I can have a laugh at it. Strange enough...

Today is Friday. Friday the 13th!!!
Any other Friday would be just a Friday. But because of that 13, everything is different, with a twist, crazy!!! Now, I had luck today. A brick almost landed on my head but I managed to get away from it. Smart move! But as I slipped to the side of the sidewalk, a cute black cat got scared of me and cut me off!

Taaaa-dammmm! As I said, I am a superstitious person, but when it comes to black cats I take a stand! Come on!!! they are so cute and elegant and...shinny!!! So, I decided to investigate on this whole black-cat-issue! The result:

Good things:
• In Britain, on the Yorkshire coast, wives of fishermen believe that their menfolk will return safely if a black cat is kept in the house.
• A black cat in the audience on opening night portends a successful play.
• In the south of France, black cats are referred to as matagots or magician cats. According to local superstition, they bring good luck to owners who feed them well and treat them with the respect they deserve.
• In the English Midlands, a black cat as a wedding present is thought to bring good luck to the bride.
• A cat sneezing is a good omen for everyone who hears it. ~Italian superstition
Also sings of good luck:
• Possessing a black cat.
• Having a black cat greet you at a door.
• Having a black cat enter your home.
• Meeting three black cats in succession.
• Touching a black cat.

And on the down side...
• Meeting a black cat early in the morning.
• Having a black cat turn its back on you.
• Scaring or driving away a black cat from your property.
• Walking under a ladder after a black cat has walked underneath it.

Well, well, well! What do we have here? It looks like more "+"s then "-"s!!! OK!!! I was focusing on the bright side of it all! :)

I was actually talking to some friends last night about amusement-parks and I told them one of my greatest dreams: to be able to take 10 close friends to Disney Land on my birthday and have an absolutely crazy time!...one day!

This triggered in my (a little alcohol intoxicated) brain the memory of the Elle France January-featured shooting! Heather Marks takes an exciting trip to Disney Land Paris, where she meets all the great characters.

We Are All Mad Men Around Here

This was the New Year's Party.

With this post, I am finishing with the winter-festivities madness! Enough is enough and we must get back to our daily routine (ohhh...how I love my routine. The sens of security it gives me!!!)

We had a '60s/Mad Men inspired party...and I think it worked out just fine. Pretty girls, hansom men, tall glasses of champaign, shoter glasses of whisky, beehives in the hair, bow-ties, good friends and so on...let's just say it went crazy after a few hours of drinking and dancing!

Grandma's Dress

For New Year's Eve, we (me and my friends) decided to have a 60's inspired party. All cute and nice and official!

Everything was set: the food, the drinks, the music, the girl's dresses, the boy's outfits. Everything except one thing: MY dress! Imagine me going all crazy, with absolutely 0 time to make myself a dress...depression, sadness, crying (all great reaction, that us girls know best).

The solution came from my grandmother who gave me the dress you see in the image (under the condition I don't do anything to it). What can I say? LOOOVVVVEEEEE IT!

But in the end I decided to go with something else (a retro late 50s beaded cardigan with an Arina Varga skirt. It just felt more New Year Party like...

Even so...this dress is staying with me! I'm ignoring my 85 year old grandmother when she calls and asks for it back!!! What?!?!?!? I like it (and she know that...but she also like to tease me a lot).

Aaahhhhh...nothing compares to my grandmother's wardrobe. Below, you can also see some shots I took of her apartment (filled with precious useless stuff that I adore)!

A Greeting Card

It was the 1st of January 2012. Yes, not that long ago! After celebrating the New Year with friends, I got up the next morning (must read afternoon) and went out to buy something for my headache (yeah...it was a blast, that party).

Sunny Happy People on the streets! Accidentally met with Ioana from kf , chatted a little, laughed a little, kissed and said good-bye. So there I was, my grumpy self, retuning to the Atelier, when (I don't know why) decided to check the mail box-real one.

Surprise! Surprise!

A pretty golden envelope with a greeting card from my dear Mara!!! I'm telling you, this was the best way to start the year. Nothing compares with a greeting card written by hand. Nothing! Mara, you are amazing!!! Kisses and love from Arad!

Making a List

...and I won't even check it twice!
No need...I've been trying to think about things to put on the list for a long while now. And besides the usual I want to be a better person, I want to start working out more often, I want to bla bla... I just can't think of anything else...

The reason? Well, I think I really like my life (and me) right now. I love it all: the hard moments, the easy ones, the happy ones...even the good ones. Because last year I've learned that all experiences can teach me something. I am the result of good, bad, fantastic, heartbreaking events. I am happy! So, why change anything? :)

2011 was a crazy ride.
2012 will be an even bigger roller-coaster!

Starting yesterday, I finally managed to make my record player work. This after a few months of trying without succeeding! Believe me, I was almost at the point of giving up and buying a new one...

I really wanted to make the old one work, because it has sentimental value. Yep...it's worth something just to me, otherwise it's just a piece of junk...that looks really bad! Even so, I love it like crazy!
So, since yesterday we've been listening (at Atelier Arina Varga) to Earth,Wind and Fire, Aura Urziceanu, Rosu si Negru (a Romanian band), poetry by Mihai Eminescu and even a few stories...

White Dreams

-Winter Edition In case you missed the last post (a little impossible, I know...for it is just under this one), here is again, all the information needed to get to the Absolutely Fabulous Fashion&Vintage Fair:

This will be the White Edition (the irony: I'm writing this in black letters)! Anyways. This (and a few other factors) got me inspired to do a few white pieces, with details of lace and Swarovski Crystals (all put one by one, by hand, on the dresses).

With only one colored used, it was fun to play with asymmetries, with geometrical cuts, with transparency! Finally, I had (actually, I made) the time to play a little with the fabrics. After months of orders...this comes as a blessing! :)

Nothing fancy, but 100% Eco-friendly bags...with really fancy texts printed on them. Now, I don't know about you, but I really enjoy these type of bags (I think I have about 5 of them, with different messages). And now, now I want one from MAUDE & TILDA!!! Plsss!!! Christmas time and all...so?...

No comment? Ok...I guess I'll just get one by myself! :) Even so, I hope you will consider changing your plastic bags with Eco-friendly ones. And while doing so, why not go for something "fashion-related"? :))

We decided to use the national flag for a dress (no cuts or anything, just draped on the mannequin). Just as a way to celebrate, at the atelier, this day...even if we are not there right now...free time!!! :)

Drinks and Talk

Starting today, we have a new talking/discussing/drinking tea/wine/coffee corner at Atelier Arina Varga!!! A place to dream new designs, to come up with new ideas...

The table and chairs are a gift from my from my 85 year old grandmother. They are from the early 1900, made in Austria...and I just love them. Also, I got the lamp from the most amazing antique store in Arad, that has become one of my favorite places to shop at (more stuff from them, soon)!

So, here is the place were we'll talk from now on! Be sure to visit Atelier Arina Varga for a cup/glass of daily fashion! ;)

RFB, Romexpo si Club 4×4 Romania te invita in perioada 1 – 4 decembrie 2011 la “Creezi sau Donezi? Iarna 2011”, o petrecere creativa organizata in scop caritabil in cadrul targului CBS – Targ de Cadouri de Craciun, Decoratiuni si Suveniruri.

Fondurile obtinute in urma acestui eveniment caritabil vor fi folosite pentru a ajuta 50 de copii, prescolari de la gradinita din Grosani – Slanic Prahova in cadrul campaniei umanitare organizate de Club 4×4 Romania. Mai multe detalii despre campania umanitara pe club4×4romania.ro.

Esti invitat sa creezi si sa donezi, in scop caritabil si intr-un mod inedit, intr-una din zonele spatiului in care se va desfasura cea de-a IV-a editie “Creezi sau Donezi?”.

Zona de creatie – Zona din care alegi din accesoriile si ustensilele disponibile, ce doresti si ce te inspira si iti creezi singur un glob pentru pomul de Craciun al socrilor, o felicitare pentru bunica, o brosa pentru prietena cea mai buna sau un inel de logodna pentru iubita. Lasi in schimb in cosul de donatii o bancnota pentru copii prescolari de la gradinita din Grosani. Cu bancnota de la tine vom cumpara copiilor creioane colorate si acuarele, sa poata si ei oferi bunicilor o felicitare, fratilor mai mici bomboane colorate … de Craciun.

Zona de donatie – Piesele expuse vor fi donate de membrii RFB, bloggeri, prieteni, artisti si designeri. Iti alegi o piesa vestimentara sau un accesoriu pe plac sau pentru familie, rude si prieteni. Lasi in schimb in cosul de donatii o bancnota pentru copii prescolari de la gradinita din Grosani. Cu bancnota de la tine le vom cumpara un fular, o caciulita de lana sau manusi … sa le fie cald de Craciun.

Accesoriile si ustensilele necesare pentru eveniment sunt donate de membrii RFB si membrii Clubului 4×4 Romania. Designeri romani consacrati si membrii RFB precum Agata Secelean, Diana Bobar, Josephine sau Ludmila Corlateanu vor dona piese din colectiile lor, piese ce vor expuse in zona de donatie.

“Creezi sau Donezi?” se afla la a IV-a editie. Este incercarea noastra, a membrilor RFB, de a oferi un cadou de Craciun celor dragi si copiilor. Ne aflam la a doua colaborare cu Clubul 4×4 Romania, club care organizeaza in fiecare an, de Craciun, o actiune umanitara pentru copii. Ne folosim de creativitate, moda si 4×4 pentru a aduce zambetul pe chipul ingeresc al unui copil. Sunt absolut sigura ca vom fi surprinsi de creativitatea si de darnicia bucurestenilor. I finally managed to give an opening party for the atelier! And it all went pretty good...I hope/guess. Friends!!! Was it fun for you? Because I for one, had a blast! :)))

The theme (we MUST always have a theme) was PROHIBITION...the '20s! With this post I just wanted to thank all my friends, that were here with me and for me, while making the Atelier happen! Not all of them were able to make it to the party (and I am very sorry for that, but happy...because this way I have a good reason to give another party). I love you all!!! And not all of them are in the pictures posted here. sorry, but there are enough images to make you feel the mood...

Now, in the picture below, you can see my Redhead. You can't see the color, but believe me, it's her! I put this picture so high-up, because I was her mother to see how pretty she looked (I hope all my friends moms read my blog, so that they can see how pretty their kids looked at my party).

Festivalul Tinerilor Designeri din Vestul Tarii

Translation: The Young Designers from the West Region of the Country Festival...or something like that.

It was a festival, dedicated to young designers from the west part of Romania and it took place in Arad. I had a lot of fun and I hope that the feeling is mutual to the models and visitors. Also, I'm so happy I got to meet some great and interesting people, right here, in my sweet home town! It turns out I don't know everybody!...and as far as I'm concern, that's just great!!!

Here, you can see the All Along the Watchtower collection (only a small part of it). But, people can come and see the rest of the collection at the showroom, in Arad (just give a mail/call before doing so).

HERE you can listen to the song that played during the fashion show. We didn't go with Jimi as far as the music was concerned. We just considered that Ram Jam was a batter choice for the catwalk.

Now, that's enough! Back to work...Oh, see an interview with me and 2 other designers, after the event. Talking about fashion. Now there's a subject that just keeps me talking and talking and talking...just get me started. You'll see! ;)

For a while now I've been telling everybody I want to start making man clothing! And for a while, I just didn't do anything in that direction. But things and times change and here we are, with out first man dedicated product!

It's a classic trench. Simple, but at the same time perfect (because it will just fit like a glove in your wardrobe)! It is also practical, with the pockets and everything.
Now, you can have it transformed for cold weather (adding layers on the inside) but this model is the simple version. Also, you can change the pattern on the inside, according to your own style and taste (natural silk)!

Sometimes, great things happen! And those great things happen because of great people! So, here it is: a great thing, a great person, a great present!

Yesterday, I got mail! Real mail, not virtual...NOT bills! A real envelope, with a real note, on a real piece of paper, along side with a real book! A cupcake book (I do LOVE making cupcakes). It was all out of the blue, with no expectations!!!

The guilty one for making this present happen, this surprise, is Arina Avram!!! An adorable girl that besides sharing the same name with me, we also share similar beliefs and dreams and passions. That's why I'm using this post to tell her how much I love her gift and how much I love her! Arina, I can't wait to see you again!!!

IT IS JUST SOOO COLD!!!
I'm going crazy here, trying to keep-up with the temperature changes. What?! Is it too much to ask for 18-20'C?! NOOO! I don't think so! But what do I get? I get the opportunity to freeze my ass at 5-7'C!!!

Sorry, but this will be an angry post! I just can't take it anymore...And believe me, the weather (actually) is not to blame for m crappy mood.

Because I'm not ready for cold weather as far as fashion goes. Yes, same old...same old! I have nothing to wear! That's why I wear everything! End result: I look like a homeless persone!So here I am, in my pretty atelier, with all my pretty clothes and my cool dog.
What am I wearing? Here we go: a t-shirt, 2 light blouses, a hoodie, a black leather jacket...+long socks, jeans, short socks (I don't even think they are the same color), beige leather shoes (no heels)...+2 scarves, hot pink mittens, 2 bags, bracelets (yes...accessorizing here) and a hat to keep me worm
...and to make the "crazy lady look" complete!

Pictures? No way in hell!
I hope that as the day progresses, I will take of some of the lairs :)) But who knows...for now, I am freezing! But today I will start looking for cold-weather clothes...

For about more then a month now, I started (restarted is a more accurate therm)listening to vinyl records. Yep...I just forgot what I was missing on!
It's just all about that great-fantastic noise when the needle hits the record...Nothing, NOTHING can compare with that!

But, as some of you may know...vinyls are more and more hard to find these days. For example, my friends do have great ones that I can no longer get my hand on (without going bankrupt I guess...). So, as a problem-solving person I found a solution, that's at the same time fun and practical: How to pirate a vinyl record!!!

So, here I am showing you little details of some dresses I did this last month (some of that...meaning the ones that got to stay in the Atelier for more then 1h after they were finished).

Perfection and More

It's been a while now since I've been in love with a shoot (except my own..images soon)! I guess it was high-time for one to come and haunt my fashion-dreams.

For about 2 months now, I've been obsessing over the so called "plastic look". Something like the over-adjusted in Photoshop images, perfect wig-like hair, porcelain teeth...expensive everything!!! Because expensive shoes/bags/jewelery do look unreal (as in too good to be true)!

To support this idea, here is a shooting from Vogue US Magazine, showing us (in a retro look) purses and shoes from the likes of Gucci, Alexander Wang and Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci. Delicious!!!

Crazy Days

First of all, sorry that I haven't been posting so often!
It's been a crazy ride so far...with the Atelier, custom dresses, the collection, a small dog...and all the bureaucracy in the world, all on my plate! Even so hectic, the days are turning into routines. I'm just in love with that. Plus, a colder weather is making it's presence felt...and that's just perfect!

Happily Ever After

We all deserve one. A Happily Ever After!
And why not celebrate the event in a fairytale wedding dress? This was Cristina's option for the wedding. Simple, nice, but all with a twist. A fun and bubbly bride, ready to dance the night away!

The dress had actually 4 pieces:
-the bodice (with Swarovski Crystals beading on the top)
-the skirt (made out on 30m of voile and 20m of tulle)
-the belt (all covered in Swarovski Crystals and with a huge bow in the back)
-pleated short sleeves (only for the Church ceremony. She was able to take them off after)

In total: over 60m of fabric and about 2000 Swarovski Crystals.
And it looked fab! ;)

Yep...Hello world! This is me again...(after a few months of not posting pictures of myself)

What changed? Well, the very existence of the images is all because of Patricia Imbarus! She had the patience to deal with me (and I'm pretty cu-cu when it comes to people taking my photo), she had the patience to deal with the weather...what can I say, she was there for me! :)

So...this is the weekend before I start work at the showroom and atelier Arina Varga. I just can't wait! But as I'm watching time pass by, I'm starting to get more and more nervous.

You know...like the ride up the roller coaster top. You hear the wheels squeaking, the wood popping under the train, the wind in your hair, your heart beating out of your chest!
And then, for a few seconds, it all stops! Time, life...everything...
After that, it's all a ride. Easy, crazy, fun!

It's Friday! And as far as me and most of my friends like to think, it's the end of another working week. But at the same time, it's the beginning of the weekend.

As soon as something ends...something else begins...

Today, for me it's a "last day". Something ends. No sadness, only excitement for the future! After today, 2 days of numbness. Days of relaxation...like preparing for a battle! Things will never be the same...ever again!

I used to be scared of new starts (and...by doing so, really scared of endings). Now, I know that beginnings must be embraced! So, whenever something comes to an end (even if it's a good thing):

Now, do you remember this lipstick? If you are Romanian and about my age, you must remember it! It's a must!

As a kid, I used to be fascinated with it, whenever I saw my mom using it. Why? Well, first of all, the design! Shiny gold with a funky texture->LOVE! And, as the French would say, la pièce de résistance: the fact that it's green and when you use it...it turns PINK on your lips! Magic...

I went absolutely crazy when I fount a couple of them last week (yep...bought them all)! So I'm saving most of them as gifts for special people. Because this...this is a piece of our childhood!Images: theFword

Finally, after months and months of looking for great interiors, great people to work with, super-duper machines and...understanding neighbors....it's finally all coming along!

Atelier Arina Varga is almost here! Yes...we have a Facebook page, were you can see what's happening, what's new...2 more weeks and you will be my guests!
Until now, we have machines, taller then 4m rooms, wood floors, Frankie jumping around, colored fabrics, stairways to heaven, next-door buildings with eyes on the roof...
...we have big windows, flowers, music form vinyl records.

I know you can't see much right now. That's the way I want it. Yep, it will be a surprise and I really hope you'll come and see it live! Until then, back to work!;)
